Sullivan Buses vehicle order
« on: February 24, 2011, 04:58:16 pm »
A notable vehicle order is for two 11.3m AD Dt/ADL E200 dual door buses which should be arriving by the time you read this. These will be numbered AE4 and AE5, with the second one registered AH 11 SUL but complete details will hopefully be provided shortly. These two will be dual-door and in dark blue for Thorpe Park shuttle services, but are expected to be found from 1st March on Hertfordshire services until TP opens for the season. These will be the first buses of this layout to be built by ADL.

What currently operates the Thorpe Park shuttle? Last time I went in 2008, there was some ex-Metroline Dennis Lance SLFs on the service.

I think ex-London United Dart SLFs operate it.

To quote the History page on the SB website...

"The DPSs and DN1 are in blue for the Thorpe Park Shuttle 950."

Some pictures of the first day, courtesy of MD Dean Sullivan. If you are wondering about the registration plates - well, NH = Neil Hogg (Engineering Manager), AH =- Ashley Hutchins (Thorpe Park service manager) - as far as I know!

Confirmed by the boss....

"Yes AH is Ashley, & NH is Neil Hogg. I like personalising them if I can. MS10 is Mala Singelee" (Mala - company admin).

Nice buses! Hopefully Thorpe Park branding will follow.

I'm not sure i've seen such long Enviro200s! I think I read somewhere 11.3m is a first for the Enviro200 (not sure how true that is).

I do like the revised front on the E200, makes it look more stylish. The revised front can also be seen on some new E200s with First London and Go-Ahead London.

With the arrival of AE4 & 5, these displace DN5-7, which have been sold to Nu-Venture.

So these are definitely the first E200s built to 11.3m, not just the first ones with dual doors and no seats in the nearside low floor section?

They are the first 11.3m long dual door E200s ADL has built, unless I've mis-red the top post?

Thanks to DaveS for this explanation - "...the first 11.3m E200s were a small batch for Halton (Widnes). However, they would be the first dual door ones, simply because there are none in London..."

Further information from Dean Sullivan (MD) - "These are definitely the first to this particular layout. The design was for a potential LT contract. However TfL rejected the idea. We came along looking for high capacity dual door buses, and as the design work had already been done, ADL built them. Our spec is slightly modified – e.g. no assault screens, driver alarms etc." Nearside layout plans attached.

At Nu-Venture these are probably to replace the 3 Kent CC owned Darts which are moving to Eastonways shortly. They are in the paintshop now, and will be retaining their current registrations.
