Lea Valley Buses . Harlow .
« on: July 24, 2011, 08:16:51 am »
I understand the above company failed last week and has been placed into the hands of a receiver .

Route 255 has passed to Olympus Bus & Coach ( Olympian Coaches )
Route 555 has passed to S M Coaches .

I am unaware as to what has happened to their Buses . Their boldly branded vehicles have certainly brightened up the area , in the last few months .

Well that didn't last long! Shame to hear that.
Lets hope SM / Olympian have better success with the routes.

This is the message appearing above route 255 and 555 timetables on Traveline:

" Lea Valley Buses administration - Services 255 and 555 will no longer operate.
As from 12 July 2011, Lea Valley Buses have gone into administration and will no longer be operating their 255 (Chesthunt - Waltham Cross -Waltham Abbey - Loughton) and 555 (Harlow - Nazeing - Waltham Abbey - Loughton) services. "

Hopefully SM Coaches and Olympian will indeed be taking over the routes. Traveline may not have been informed about this yet.

From the HarlowRide website (http://www.harlowride.co.uk/).

" 25th July 2011
Route 555 has been taken over by TWH Bus and Coach, and at present is operating between Harlow and Waltham Abbey, Ninefields, and Upshire only (so is not serving Nazeing, Loughton and Debden). This may be a temporary situation, we are awaiting clarification of bus times at present. "

As TWH have taken over the 555 (apparently), it seems likely they may have taken over the 255 as well. The buses I have seen on the 255 still have full pink branding and the same drivers.

The HarlowRide site could have made a mistake. I suppose we will get the full picture soon.

Harlowride is correct.  LVB vehicles - ie the six B6s - passed to Road Runner.  The four branded in pink for the 255 continue to run on that route without change.  The two branded in blue for the 555 have had the '555' number taken off the sides and tend to be used on the 511 nowadays.  Route 555 itself passed to Hunny from last Saturday 23rd, but no longer serves Nazeing and no longer runs to Loughton and Debden.  Operated with one bus (so far this week the Olympian F369WSC) to a very tight schedule so tends to run later and later during the day.  Scheduled at 58 min round trip Harlow- Waltham Abbey then round the eastern estates.  Lots of timetables are posted up on the stops in Harlow (at the Bay 11-14 end) and Waltham Abbey

Thanks for the info! Do you know if this arrangement is temporary?
