Ensignbus depot fire
« on: June 10, 2012, 12:12:39 AM »
Unfortunately there was a fire at the Ensignbus depot earlier this evening.

From Essex Fire Brigade website...

"Firefighters were called to tackle a blaze in a bus depot. The incident involved two double decker buses parked inside. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two jets and one hose reel to fight flames.

At 19:25 hrs, crews reported that both vehicles were 100 per cent well alight and the side of the depot building was being affected by heat. The aerial ladder platform was used as a cooling monitor, pouring water onto the scene from above as crews tackled flames on the ground.

At 19:46 hrs, crews reported that the two buses were destroyed by fire as the incident was being brought under control.

The fire was out by 20:55 hrs.

We have no information at this stage relating to the cause of the incident. "

What was the other bus that went up in flames? I assume that it was the ex-Dublin Olympian sitting behind the hybrid.

At least no-one was hurt in the blaze.

Yeah, the Dublin Oly "caught" thanks to the intense heat from the hybrid.

Going by the summary Ross Newman posted on the essex yahoo group, it was a fairly major short in the hybrid's batteries that caused the fire.

Fortunate that was only two buses, and no-one got hurt!
