Andrew Pursey to Leave
« on: April 30, 2013, 06:40:39 PM »
http://go-ahead.com/media/news/2013news/2013-04-29.aspx

Andrew Pursey, Anglian Bus Managing Director, is to leave the company in the summer.

Andrew will remain with the business until the end of July to enable a smooth transition to a new management team. He will be succeeded by Julian Paterson who will become Managing Director of both Konectbus and Anglian Bus. Julian will be supported by Philip Eden, who has been appointed Operations Manager, Anglian Bus.

Since Go-Ahead acquired Anglian Bus in April 2012 Andrew has overseen the transition of Anglian Bus from an established family-run business to ownership by The Go-Ahead Group.

Andrew said:"I have been involved in running Anglian Bus for the past 23 years and during the last 12 months I've seen the company enter a new era as part of Go-Ahead. I am now looking forward to supporting Julian Paterson in delivering a smooth transition before leaving to take up a new challenge."

That is a bit of surprise.  Haven't seen Philip Eden's name around in bus management for years.

Phillip Eden was or maybe still a bus enthusiast from Norfolk. Think he used to work for Eastern Counties and for a while he worked with Stagecoach as MD at Stagecoach Cambridge 10 years ago.
Never ask a dustman to talk shop.
He will only talk a load of rubbish!

I believe he was Depot Manager at Kings Lynn in the mid-eighties, before being transferred as DM Ipswich. Was still with Eastern Counties at the time First took over. As stated later became Managing Director for Stagecoach Cambridgeshire before taking up a consultancy roll.

YES !! That's our "Butch", also erstwhile Mayor of Ely - think he still lives that way (or used to?)

Wouldn't be surprised to see Konect & Anglian go into same number series ? Just like GA have done with Hedingham & Chambers.

With some revisions of the Norwich services to co-ordinate them and maximise the use of resources.

Are there any duplications in routes currently?

I don't think there any obvious duplications but I think there is scope for swoping ends, running routes through the centre rather than terminating etc.  (I can't remember what I was told on the specifics of this - and even then, they were only ideas which had not been fully worked up)

I see what you mean. Even joining advertising together as it's not shown the 8 and X47 have a 5-10 minute connection between one arriving and the other departing.

I think the only overlap in service is between Norwich city and centre and Norwich Rail Station, served by Anglian A47/X47/123/124 and another one (121A?) and konectbus 8.

Phillip Eden used to be a key figure in the Eastern Counties Omnibus Society/Eastern Transport Collection Society.

Yes, he did and used to help organise the Norwich Bus Rally. In fact I used to be a member and still have
my old 'Terminus' magazines which make interesting reading.
