Newbury Bus Rally
« on: December 08, 2015, 09:49:35 am »
Can anyone confirm whether the Icebreaker Bus Rally is still going ahead in Newbury on 1st January? I have looked at Oxford Bus enthusiast sites on both internet and Facebook but there doesn't appear to have been any entries since June.

Dick Gilbert of the http://www.classicbuses.co.uk/events.html site tells me the link is working for him.
However I only get "This page can’t be displayed" both from the direct link and a search engine link.
Perhaps someone else could give it a try

From UK-BUS-SOUTHWEST@yahoogroups.com

It's just one week away for the Icebreaker Running Day in Newbury on the 1st January 2016.
A selection of buses will be operating free trips on three different routes from Newbury bus station between 10am and 4pm on the day. A mixture of preserved buses and vehicles from local operators will be taking part, including a vehicle from the Reading Buses fleet.
Programmes are now on sale and can be purchased online at www.icebreakerrunningday.co.uk or will be available from the bus station on the day at a cost of £4.00
In addition, there are trade stands and refreshments being offered in the Wesley Hall of the Methodist Church in Northbrook Street, at least 7 traders have booked in so far offering models and books and photographs.
This is the first year this event has run officially, and we would appreciate your support to replace the much missed FoKAB event

Hi

John here from the organising committee for this event, we are pleased to say that the event is very much still taking place.
Webs as a host are quite unreliable it seems, as I have found that it doesn't always come up in searches.

We have an event page on Facebook which we've been posting updates to - make sure it is the page and not the "event" as that page is now largely dormant.

Programmes are on sale in advance (paypal payment possible) or on the day, £4 plus any postage.
