Luxembourg new tram system
« on: December 23, 2017, 09:56:14 am »
The first phase of a brand new tram system opened in Luxembourg City on 10 December 2017.

Operated by Luxtram, a company created in 2014 to plan and build the system, the line links Rout Bréck-Pafendall with Luxexpo, an exhibition complex also featuring leisure and shopping facilities. In due course the eastern end of line will reach Luxembourg Airport and the western end will serve the city centre and southern suburbs.

The initial fleet comprises 21 seven section 45 metre long Spanish built CAF Urbos tram sets.

Opened on the same day was a new funicular linking Pfaffenthal-Kirchberg mainline railway station with Rout Bréck-Pafendall on the new tramway.

Appears to work very well in snow too - very stylish as well.
