First Berkshire Route Withdrawals in Slough
« on: January 11, 2018, 05:34:16 PM »
Does anyone have any info regarding replacement services/operators for the routes that are being withdrawn in slough from 20th January 2018 (Other than those that Reading Transport are taking over - similar to their takeover of Green Line 702 on the 27th December 2017)

Despite the First Berkshire website outlining the planned changes to the Berkshire Network services 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7/N7, 8/N8, 10/11 and 15 see:

https://www.firstgroup.com/berkshire-thames-valley/news-and-service-updates/news/changes-our-berkshire-network-20-january-2018

I have only managed to find applications in Notices and Proceedings for services 4, 7/N7 and 8 searching under First Beeline Buses Limited. (Service 8 shows changes from 30 January).

Searching for 'Slough' only revealed this one in the issue dated 10 January 2018:

PH0005856/198 READING TRANSPORT LTD, GREAT KNOLLYS STREET, READING,
RG1 7HH
From: Slough
To: Maidenhead
Via:
Name or No.: 4 / 4
Service type: Normal Stopping
Effective date: 20 January 2018
Other details: New Service

To access the Notices and Proceedings for the East of England Traffic Area for the current and past weeks use this link:

RouteOne magazine (10 January 2018) includes this item:

Quote

Reading Buses wins Slough route tender

Municipal operator ReadingBuses has won three Slough Borough Council tendered services, taking over from First on 20 January. The routes are 5 (daytimes), 4 (evenings) and 6 (Sundays).

It is recruiting drivers and will be setting up a low-cost outstation in the town. Part of the firm’s ‘pan Berkshire’ approach, the growth will make a profitable contribution.

New bus services to replace First Bus routes
Published: Tuesday, 9th January 2018

The Royal Borough is negotiating new bus services to replace a number of First Bus routes over the next two weeks, maintaining resident access to important public transport.

The council is at the final stage of agreeing a new contract to ensure routes 2, 10/11 and 15 will be replaced.

Cllr Phill Bicknell, cabinet member for highways, transport and Windsor, said: “I would like to reassure residents there will be no break in service for users of the First Bus routes 2, 10/11 and 15 and we will announce further details by the end of the week.

“We know how important these routes are in keeping our communities well connected and I am pleased to say that we are at the final stage of securing alternative provision.

“There will be some changes to the routes and timetables but we are ensuring these communities can continue to access a bus service that works for them.”

The alternative services will begin when routes 10/11 and 15 end on 20 January and route 2 ends on 30 January.

This is from Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead website
