Stagecoach Timetable Changes - September 2018
« on: September 14, 2018, 07:29:44 PM »
These slipped past me - possibly while I was in hiding before sitting an exam!

It's always said to see the inexorable decline in services, and in particular to see that decline is now set into the Busway as well

I would however like to offer them my slightly sarcastic congratulations for managing to timetable the D to complete the Science Park > Cambridge North > Cambridge journey in the same length of time as the A, saving 7 minutes from the journey time.

Babraham Road Park & Ride

Slight change to the timetable to add more running time during the peak periods to improve service reliability.

Busway

Service N will no longer operate. The peak time N's will be renamed to Route D and have been re-timed. These will continue to serve all stops along Milton Road. The Off-Peak N's will be replaced by a diversion of the Route A once an hour via Cambridge North Station. These will also be renamed to Route D and will also serve all stops along Milton Road.
In order to maintain a 15 minute service on Route A, all Route A journeys have been re-timed between Trumpington Park & Ride and the Science Park in both directions. The Buckden journey in the afternoon will now be split at St Ives bus station. This is to enable customers who finish work at 5 at CB1 to catch a later bus and change in St Ives as these changes will see the A's depart earlier. The last A's to/from Royston are renumbered D's.

On the Haverhill services. I understand the extension to Clare as another operator pulled out of the Clare to Haverhill route I think - it used to run all the way to Sudbury.

What I don't understand is are they running a bus between Clare and Haverhill and then passengers changing on to the service from Kedington (which arrives and departs at 0715)? The timetable doesn't show the service continuing but also doesn't explain the change which they usually seem to do. Does the vehicle from Clare then get used in the 13C?

The changes to the 9/39 are just another backward step.

The round the town 9 is not very helpful.  High Barns which has had a bus service for years loses its both ways service into the town centre in favour an into town only service at the saem frequency.  Out of town, the passengers have a 40 minute journey via the hospital and the leisure centre - it is quicker to walk unless you are very infirm.  To make it worse, on the day that I travelled on that route, the bus didn't service High Barns at all and travelled along Prickwillow Road instead.

It seems there are only backward steps these days :(

Long time since there was an improvement, even longer since there was one that didn't involve the Busway.  And whatever it was probably didnt survive (busway frequencies and Citi Sunday services are the only things that have survived?)
