Ipswich-Felixstowe Run 6 May 2018
« on: May 06, 2018, 07:59:08 pm »
The Ipswich-Felixstowe Historic Road Run started from Christchurch Park in Ipswich with 13 mile run comprising many different types of vehicle class (cars, leisure vehicles, commercials, military vehicles, motorcycles, buses and coaches).

There were 25 entries in the buses and coaches category although entry numbers F3, F14, F19 and F24 did not participate. There were however three additional participants whose entry numbers I didn't record.

Worth seeing was VG 5541 which was new to the Norwich Omnibus Company in June 1933 which later passed to Eastern Counties.

My album shows all of the bus and coach entries that left from Christchurch Park. That was it Paul, Lodge's only entered the three Bedford OBs.

I have now completed the upload of my photographs of this rally which include a number of shots showing the driver of the Lodge's open-sided Bedford OB removing the window panels during the 'conversion' from closed to open style. I had never thought about this aspect before despite seeing the coach in the past.

There is also a photo of the lower deck and two photos of the slatted seating on the upper deck of VG 5541.
